Arroz de leite (milk rice)
My grandmother's (Almida) milk rice recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of rice
- 1 cinnamon stick (whole)
- 1 L of milk
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- a bit of salt
Preparation
- Wash the rice
- Put the rice and the cinnamon stick in a pot
- Cover the rice with a little water
- Cook the rice and cinnamon for a few minutes
- Add the milk
- Cook on low heat until creamy
- Add the sugar and salt and cook quickly just until the sugar dissolves
Notes:
- It is nice to eat while warm, but it tastes nice cold from the fridge with a vit of ground cinnamon on the top.
